Libertango has always been one of my favorite arrangements on marimba. This composition was written by Astor Piazzolla in 1974 and has been covered by many ensembles since. In 2010, I featured Jasmin Kolberg performing Eric Sammut’s arrangement of Libertango. Today’s video features a performance by Japanese marimba virtuoso Kana Omori. Dr. Dave Gerhart, Artist Relations Partner for the Yamaha Corporation and freelance percussionist is a nationally recognized performer, composer, and educator. Dr. Gerhart, originally from Fairfield, California, holds a D.M.A. from the University of Southern California, M.M. in Percussion Performance and Instrumental Conducting and a B.M. in Music Education from California State University, Long Beach.
