Pan in A Minor, written by “Lord Kitchener” and arranged by Jit Samaroo, is a classic panorama tune from 1997. Spend 10 minutes and listen. You won’t be sorry!

Originally written for marimba, James Beauton chose to improvise and perform this work on the 3.5 octave YV-3910 Yamaha Vibraphone. This video was recorded live in June, 2013 at Stony Brook University.
Last night, I was fortunate to be at the opening concert of the Zeltsman Marimba Festival at Rutgers University. The second half of the concert featured the reunion of Marimbolin, a marimba/violin duo featuring marimbist Nancy Zeltsman and violinist Sharan Leventhal. They played 4 pieces and the music they created was breathtaking and performed with a high level of musicality. I hope this was not the last time we hear from Marimbolin. (more…)
June is almost over and the July 4th weekend is coming up. I always look forward this weekend because it is a time to spend time with my family and watch fireworks. This week, I had the opportunity to see a DCI show in a theater due to the rain and flash flood warnings. It was a first for many of us. Although it was fun to see, without the front ensemble, it was disappointing. Have a great week!
